FALL INTO FALL!

I hope that you and your family had a restful summer because our church's calendar of activities for the month of September is very full! Here are a few of the many things happening at WCCC this month:

One of the other big things stirring this Fall is the new facility task force. During the summer the Advisory Council created a special task force to research an alternative location for our church. North Ranch Community Center has been our home (at least on Sunday mornings) since 1996 and has been a blessing to our church in many ways. But as we continue to plan and work toward the future of our church the limitations of the NRCC become more obvious. It does not have enough room for our growing youth program; it is too expensive for our church to rent for functions other than Sunday worship, which limits our visibility in the community.

The six member task force (Maggie Boring, Larry Cox, Della Greenlee, George Poole, Robin Privat and myself) has been meeting and reporting to the Advisory Council over the summer. The task force is investigating the possibility of sub-leasing 3,500-4,000 square feet of Bob and Cathy Given's business, Conejo Graphics (2360 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village). This space would be available to the church for use throughout the week for meetings and special activities. The task force has been talking with the City Planning Department about zoning and permit considerations; we have researched other church facilities in the light industrial district of Westlake Village and we have been reviewing construction costs.

The Advisory Council will hold its September 11th meeting at Conejo Graphics to tour the building and review the task force's report. All Advisory Council meetings are open for all church members to attend and I encourage you to come see the facility for yourself. In the meantime, feel free to talk to me or other task force members to find out more information.
