Mickey settled into the routine of eating and sleeping and getting cleaned by his mother with his brother and sister always at his side. He loved to be near them. It made him feel happy.

For a while, Mickey had been hearing some strange noises around him. He heard them especially when he was hungry. If Mama kitty was away from them, she would come back at the very same time that Mickey heard the noises. He wasn't sure what it was. Sometimes the sounds were very close to him, almost as if they lived inside him. Other times it seemed they lived inside his brother and sister. He did not know what the sounds meant...but was glad when Mama kitty returned to them, because that meant he could have his dinner.

Then one day, something extraordinary happened. The darkness went away and he began to see things. Mickey looked around and for the very first time...he saw his mother. She was bigger than he was and she was so beautiful. Mickey fell in love with her right then and there. He also saw his brother and sister for the first time as well. He saw them when they opened their mouths and that strange noise came out. He understood then where that noise came from. He liked to hear it.

Mickey saw the blanket he slept on and the walls of the box he lived in.
