August 2004:  The 10GHz and up contest was fun again this year.  Stations active in the U.P. of Michigan the first weekend of the contest  included K2YAZ, NE8I, WB9SPT, NN9X, and K3SIW all working from the Grand Marais and Crisp Point areas on Lake Superior.  From the Keweenaw Peninsula WA8VPD, N8PUM, WB8TGY, KC0P, N0HZO, N8KWX, WA2VOI, WB0VHF, AA9IL, W0LMS, KD0JI, KC0IJB, and W9FZ, were on making a lot of QSOs with a group of 10 stations from Minnesota that were driving up the west coast of the Lake, and also the other stations in the U.P., K0KFC/VE3 and K0AWU/VE3 both near Wawa Ont., VE3KRP on the north shore, and W0GHZ and K0FQA both in Wisconsin.   KF9US was also on from the western part of the U.P.   Conditions were good on Saturday, rain and wind hurt conditions on Sunday.

September 2004:  The second weekend of the 10GHz and up contest was also fun, with great weather all weekend.  Stations active in Michigan  included K2YAZ, NE8I, WA8VPD, WB9SPT,  K3SIW, WW8M, KF8QL (new to 10GHz with a 2 watt station), and WB8TGY.   Stations active on the other side of Lake Michigan in the 10GHz contest included AA9IL, N8KWX, and W9GA (new station on 10GHz).  Most of the operations were done near Lake Michigan.  Highlights of the weekend were WB9SPT and WB8TGY at EN74at working N8KWX, W9GA, and AA9IL at EN62cl, for a distance of 301Km.  WW8M went up to the U.P. to try and give NE8I and K3SIW the longest two grids that they would need for their VUCC awards on 24GHz.  NE8I and K3SIW operated from Christmas Cove County Park (Leelanau County) EN75ee and did work WW8M in EN65 and EN76 from the UP.  Both NE8I and K3SIW worked five different grids on 24GHz for their VUCC awards from EN75ee.  WB9SPT at EN74bw also worked WW8M at EN76kb on 24GHz at a distance of 138Km for the best local DX on 24GHz.  WB9SPT at EN74bw also worked WA8VPD and WB8TGY on 24GHz at the minimum 1Km distance with each running homebrew stations.  Both WA8VPD and WB8TGY are new to 24GHz with their own stations.
