The Beat Magazine: Volume 21 No.42002

A great deal of reggae is what the business world euphemistically calls “mission driven” and Wayne Stoddart’s Committed (Platinum Gospel) certainly qualifies. As musical director of the Mountain View New Testament Church of God, he bases songs like “Pilot of my Life,” “Save my Soul” and “Spending Time With God” on a firm foundation: as the notes explain, “the theme is Christ, the story is victory and the message is life and life more abundantly.” That said and despite his clear qualification as a gospel singer this is a reggae album through and through, with bubbling and pop hook – a quite pleasant and enjoyable journey that is as musical as it is message-filled. Stoddart has found the balance between the Word and the musical deed and his up-to-date self-production is informed by a contemporary Jamaican feel (the mastering was done by none other than Dave Kelly) that helps get his message out to more than just the choir.

From the deep inner city streets of Mountain View, Kingston, Jamaica there is a voice echoing the undiluted words of God. This is the voice of gospel’s roots-man Wayne Stoddart crying for peace, love and righteousness in song.

If you have a place in your heart for good, positive, uplifting music, you will definitely find a favorite track on the COMMITTED project. Wayne Stoddart is a radical root reggae gospel artist who sends the message of God's 'Bountiful Love' in the language and heart beat music of the Jamaican people. It is good quality reggae production that first holds the listeners... then the message comes home ... and then the question is asked "...is this gospel?" Yes it is-- only it is Undiluted one-drop Roots Reggae Gospel.  Deeply inspired by the music of Bob Marley and the Wailers and Jamaica's 70s roots reggae style, Stoddart’s lyrics and music are true to life , deeply rooted in the Word and created on quality reggae rhythms. There is a signature of originality in all of his music. His sound is unique and it brings a breath of fresh air to the gospel music fraternity. He is truly among the few (so rear and dying) quality reggae acts of the decade with such positive, uplifting lyrics and originality, writing 9 of the 12 songs on this collection. This CD is a 'must get' for all quality music lovers!

LATEST CD COMMITTED

Wayne's music is deep and powerful and the message is always strong. The theme is Christ, the story is victory, and the message is life and life more abundantly through Jesus Christ'.

As with the first album FULFILLMENT OF THE BIBLE, the COMMITTED CD features the original compositions of Stoddart. The talents of this artiste are numerous, he plays, he writes, he sings and he produces and arrange. As a long-standing member of the New Testament Church of God, Wayne Stoddart is truly rooted and ground with Faith as he say in the song ‘Committed’. The high production quality attained by Wayne and the 'Committed Crew' earned the album a distribution contract with reggae's top Jamaican record- company Platinum Records (owners of Madhouse Records). BIOGRAPHY

Wayne grew up in the church and growing up in the country (Kinloss, Trelawny) there wasn't that much activity and entertainment besides what we found at the church Stoddart Explained. His interest in music also grew from the fact that his father had a wide collection of music from Gospel to R&B and Reggae, also there was always music in the church.

Wayne was born in Kingston Jamaica and migrated to the country to live with his father in Trelawny where he attended William Knibb Memorial  High School. Upon completion of high school in 1990 he returned to Kingston  to complete college at Excelsior Community. The Gospel Artist lived in the deep inner-city community of Eastern Kingston  (Mountain View) and existed amidst the harsh culture of the Kingston ghetto, Stoddart was able to sustain his identity as a child of God. The experiences of his environment has lead to the lyrics of comfort, encouragement and solution for exit from the hands of the enemy of humanity - the devil -  for the the oppressed and depressed seeking a way out or rather up. The title track COMMITTED is a prime example of the root of Wayne Stoddart's message.

The first public recognition Stoddart received was at a concert at Clarks Town Primary School. " I was in grade 4 a the time and I just started singing a pop song and doing all the dance moves. The class went wild."

As a result of that primary school  experience, Wayne and his brother Steve started singing together as the Stoddart Brothers.

Everywhere Wayne went music followed and 'visa' 'versa'. Wayne was a local High School singing star at William Knibb High School and when he went to college he formed the all male quartet  Dunamis and the results were the same (the Class of 94' Excelsior Community College).

Stoddart worships at the Mountain View New Testament Church Of God where he is the Musical Director for all choirs. Wayne formed the Gospel group Dynamis from the local members of the church and produced the album 'Fulfillment' as a church project. In March 1996 the group was nominated Best Performing Gospel Band at the Jamaica Music Awards (JAMI) for the 'Fulfillment' Project. Wayne has shared stage with artist such and Shirley Caesar, Rev F. C. Barnes and The Grace Thrillers to name a few.  Wayne Stoddart’s album COMMITTED has been nominated Best New Reggae Gospel album for the New York Caribbean Gospel Awards 2002.

Stoddart has recently  migrated to New York. He now worships ant Eastchester Church of God in the Bronx. Wayne continues to expand in his ministry healing the wounded, comforting the brokenhearted, setting the captive free and tearing down the strongholds of the enemy through the power of Jesus Christ.
