HPFind was written as a replacement for a similar program used at an ISP I once worked for.

The program we used didn't have the option to skip offensive content pages, and so HPFind v1.0 was born. (None of this code is based at all on the other program - this was a total rewrite).

After many recodings of HPFind to speed up the search process, v1.1 was released (in March 1998).

I hadn't done any work for two years when I finally got around to working on the next additions (incidentally, in March 2000 - a total coincidence!).

v2.0 contains many more customisation features such as Font Faces, Colours and Script locations. I also changed the script so it would write to an Output File and not expect the end user to redirect output to a file somewhere.

The file you have downloaded contains:

HPFind.pl - The actual script itself
HPHeader.html - An example Header for your page
HPFooter.html - An example Footer for your page
HPExclude.txt - An example user exclude list

LICENSE - GNU Public Licence

Add the HPFind script to your crontab file to run once a night, eg.

# HPFind nightly update
0 3 * * * /scripts/HPFind/HPFind.pl > /dev/nul
