Welcome to Nates Amiga Compatibility Guide. I've written this page because I'm a loyal Commodore Amiga user, and use an Amiga 1200. This has both good and bad points to it. As far as going online is concerned, I can go to whatever site the Amiga browsers can handle, and not have to worry about spyware, adware, viruses, etc.... as much as some other operating systems do. Also, there was alot of great software made for Amiga, the like of which I would have trouble finding anywhere else. Unfortunatly, there are problems with compatibility with the rest of the computing world. Everything from word processor documents to various animations and pictures can be problematic to view on an Amiga unless you know what you are doing. I've perused the thread on the 3 main Amiga forums that I know of, and figured it might be easier on some people if I just address all this stuff on one website. (Or at least link to another that might answer some questions if I don't know what to do with it) I've split this site into 4 main areas to simplify it, all of which are available on the menu on the top frame. If you can't use frames, they're also available at the bottom of each page. Hardware This lists Amiga hardware, and how well it works. A much better resourse for this would be the The big book of Amiga Hardware, which I've referred to alot. I've listed some hardware here from my own experience, and might have some insight that they don't though. Or maybe they know more about my hardware than I do, and I'm a bumbling idiot. Anyway, This stuff might answer some questions. Software This lists Amiga Software that I've found useful, entertaining, or at least interesting. Aminet should have most of the stuff I mention here, otherwise I'll try to link to the needed page Data This is more of a reference list, with the 3 letter extension typical of a file, a general description of the files function, and a program that can either load the file or at least convert it into something the Amiga can use. Network This is kind of a "how-to" library for networking stuff, various problems/solutions, and other just plain cool things you can do. Main | Hardware | Software | Data | Network | Contact me | ||
