Life
Life,
a seductive maiden in disguise,
She spreads her beauty at morning-rise.
Her vigour expressed with bubbling streams,
She drowns her admirers in luxurious dreams.
Life,
a deceitful sweet-heart in pretence,
Offers excitement – to whose expense?
With the scent of wild lilac intoxicated,
She crushes her lovers, most intimated.
Life,
the strange silence of a hidden place,
Mysteriously created of untouched space,
An empty promise of a future land,
She slips away, the unfaithful friend.
