Review written by XL

This was one of the anime movies playing in Anime Expo 2003 on Saturday, and obviously I attended it. Yes, it was the raw version, in other words, Japanese dialogs and no subtitles. It's a wonder how I understood it when I barely knew Japanese. Guess it's some connection from watching magical girl series like this too much.

Get some expectations for this movie because this isn't anything like the first movie. First off, the visual are just great with those smooth coloring. By what I know, the dubbing is done by a whole different cast now. Fans would definitely be glad that it's not the horrible dub by WB. Dubbing is very much accurate, and no scenes are cut out.

Before the actual movie, it starts off with a cute short animation featuring Kero and Suppi for humor. I won't getting into this, but it's cute and gave me some laughs.

The movie starts off with a nice opening by cutting into a battle scene, giving Sakura, Keroberoes, and Yue their entrance scene as each of them take a role during the battle. This movie is a follow up of the last episode of Cardcaptor Sakura when Sakura converted all the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards, and Syaoren confessed his love for her before leaving Japan. She's now in the sixth grade and everythings seems to be normal (except Syaoren's absence) for Sakura, but finds out that her cards are starting to disappear. This is the work of a final card that she hasn't captured, and it's strong as all the power of the her cards combined so it can bring chaos to the world single-handedly. The plot seems to be simple until in the end when we find out that there's a cost for Sakura to pay if she wants to seal this card and prevent the chaos.

Again, like I've said, I don't know any Japanese, but I followed along perfectly unlike a lot in the theater room. Syaoren and Meilin returns in this movie, and Tomoyo has sum ebil plan ready now that's Syaoren's back and Sakura still hasn't given her answer after Syaoren confessed. Ohohohohoho!! Ah...excuse me. Sakura and Syaoren end up having some time to themselves quite a lot thanks to Tomoyo ^^, but like usual shoujo manga, they like to tease you by interrupting their scene and building up that suspense.

The biggest part of the movie is that sacrificed mentioned earlier which happens near to the end of the movie. In order to save the world, she has to give up something or someone dear to her. For the fans of the anime series of this, the answer is quite obvious, but there's more to it since her decision will determine the ending of the movie.

Of course, this movie can stand on it's own, but I would highly suggest that you watch the anime series first so that you wouldn't kill yourself for spoiling the anime series by watching the ending first since this movie is a follow up of the anime series.

Heehee, can't hesitate giving 5 out of 5 for such a sweet anime. Watch it properly the first around since the conclusion comes only one time. ^^ Yesh, don't spoil yourself by reading summaries before watching this. Don't say you'll regret spoiling yourself.
