The original Jeepers Creepers was one of the best horror movies to come around in awhile. That statement can be argued but frankly the first half of the first movie was just great and the second half just went downhill a little once the Creeper was shown but I felt the ending made up for it all. Now, a few years later, we get the sequel, how does it stand up to the original?

Jeepers Creepers 2 is set two days after the original movie. The film opens with the Creeper posing as a scarecrow and taking a young boy. The father pretty much wants revenge and that's his goal in the movie. Now, a bus full of the football team and the cheerleaders is going down a lonely highway when a tire blows, it's been pierced by a shruken made out of bone. They drive away with the flat but end up with another. The Creeper is hungry and after tonight it rests for 23 more years. Can the kids survive in the bus? The plot isn't even close to being as good as the first one. There is very little character development and it takes away from the film. One character is thought to be gay but it's just a tool to set up a comment later in the film that never goes anywhere and ultimatly becomes pointless.

I would love to name off the actors in this movie for you and mention other roles that they have played but hey, I've never heard of any of these actors. The acting is quite questionable at times and yet again is nowhere near as good as what was in the original.

Victor Salva returns as the director and this time around he really seems to force his sexuality into the movie. Now, I have nothing against any sexuality but by putting this stuff into the movie, it actually makes it unbelievable. "How so?" You might ask. Well, lets see here. We get two scenes where the guys, who are in a huge open field, all stand in a line and pee together, it's very unrealistic. A group of the guys lay out and tan on the roof of the bus, yet the cheerleaders stay fully clothed and hide in the bus. Now, I'm not saying that it ruins the movie but it makes it less believable. Otherwise the directing is pretty good. I would have liked to actually see most of the deaths instead of having them off screen and the revealing of the Creeper is much better this time around. However I do question the scene where the Creeper is missing some body parts and hops around, it's insanly funny to watch. The editing is pretty good and the movie does move at a good pace considering most of it takes place inside a bus.

Overall, Jeepers Creepers 2 is a so-so horror movie. It's not great but it's mildly entertaining. If you liked the first movie then check this one out but just stay away if you hated the first one. Nothing is done that much better. Actually, it might be best to just wait and rent the movie when it comes out on DVD.
