I didn't care for the original Midnight Club. I don't remember why but I'm sure you can look it up in my review of it here. But let me say, I was greatly surprised by this one.

The story is the same. You're a street racer looking to moven his way up. That's it. The characters are lame stereotypes but oh well, this game isn't about story anyway.

The control is pretty simple to get the hang of. Bikes control a bit different than cars but it's easy to make the transition. My only complaint is that it's hard to use the horn but it isn't used so that's kind of a pointless complaint.

The sound is prety good. While the engines don't sound amazing like those in Need For Speed: Underground, it sounds decent here. The music changes on which city. L.A. has rap while Tokyo has techno. It all fits nicely. The characters have stereotypical voices.

The graphics this time around are much better. The cars still don't look as good as those in Gran Turismo 3 but they can hold their own I guess and they don't look like toy cars any more. The cities look great and when it rains it just looks amazing.

The gameplay is pretty much the same but it feels more fun this time around. You travel the city looking for a racer, they are red dots on the map. Flash your high beams at them and you'll have to follow them to a race. After that there are two basic types of races. A checkpoint race and then a race where you can hit the checkpoints in any order. It's pretty basic but man some of them are brutal and the second Dice race gave me problems because I had trouble getting on the freeway to hit the finish mark... The AI isn't that good but it can hold it's own. The cities are huge and full of stuff to interact with. I thought Tokyo was a little disappointing because it felt too much like L.A., Paris is just amazing to play in. You also have two player mode and battle mode has been added and it's pretty fun. Another new feature is the ability to make your own races in the cities. You can have up to 15 per city. There is also online play but it's broadband only so I was unable to play it. However, I hear it's pretty good and isn't too laggy.

Replay Value is pretty high. The game is sort of long and with multiplayer and onlien play being there to use you should get plenty of replay value. Personalyl, I don't know if I'm going to keep this game or not. I like it but I don't know how long I see myself playing this in the future since there are better games out there.
