MegaMan Battle Network 2
Reviewed By: Kite

Story: Okay. The story isn't much different from it's predecessor- MegaMan Battle Network- in which an on-line internet crime syndicate called WWW (World Three) attempted to use the internet to take over the world. Well, Lan Hikari and his PET (Personal Terminal or Personal Eploration Terminal..... i prefer the latter one) MegaMan.EXE put an end to their business. But, no sooner has the WWW been defeated, but 3 months later, a new threat rears it's ugly head- this time they seem to want to take over the net. This new internet group is called Net Mafia Gospel- a violent crime syndicate who executes their members if they fail. Well, Gospel doesnt know who they're messing with when they begin to mess with Lan and Megaman's home town of ACDC. Anyhoo...... the story is very similar to the last games. But, it's still fun. Story Score- 8/10

Plot: Well, that basically was covered in the story, but....... the plot is, you have to stop Gospel from taking over the net and destroying it as well. Meh, could have been a bit deeper. Plot Score- 7/10

Gameplay: The MMBN series brings about some of the best game play you'll see in a hand held system. In the Real World, you control Lan. You maneuver through towns and such and talk to people and stuff. You also jack-in your PET to send MegaMan into the internet. If your stuck on what to do in the Real World, hit the L button and talk to MegaMan for a hint. In the Cyber World, you control the Blue Bomber. The networks act as the dungeons- and they are also virtual mazes. It's easy to get a bit turned around. But, it's almost the same as the Real World. If your Megaman and get stumped on what to do next, talk to Lan by hitting the L button for a hint. Then, the Battle System is very unique. Though it's the same exact one as the one in the first game, this is still one of the games strong points. The battles are in real time, meaning, you have to pause the game if you need to go do something. At the start of every battle, you are given 5 chips to choose from. You choose Battle Chips to use against your enemies. The chips go from anywhere from offensive to defensive. And after you win a battle, you will either get some Zenny (games currency) or steal your enemies chip, if they have one. Thats one aspect taken from the early Megaman games. All in all, the gameplay is top notch. Gameplay Score- 10/10

Graphics/Music: The graphics are nice. Capcom did a good job with the 3-D shading and all in this game. Though, you can sorta get lost behind a building since it's not an over view shot, so, thats a small snag. But, the graphics are awesome none the less. And the music...... the music isn't bad. It's a bit cartoony, but it's usually always perky and upbeat. Some might find it a bit irritating- others might find it to be quite entertaining. It all depends on your mood, i suppose. The music fits the game well. Graphics/Music Score- 9/10

Replayability: If theres one thing this game has, it's got to be replayability. Theres well over 260 Battle Chips to collect- and that means loads of play time. Also, you have to note the different styles and elements Megaman can gain through out battles. The styles change into either Electric, Aqua, Wood, or Fire. Then there's styles- Shield, Team, Guts, and several others. Since you can only have 2 different styles at a time, you might want to play through the game doing different things in order to get different styles. Everystyle fits every persons personality- so it's up to you to find the style combo that fits your style of gameplay best. ~_^ Replayabilty- 8/10

Final Comments: This game is just as fun as the first one. The game has a good amount of comedy, action, adventure, and sci-fi if you will. Though, the games difficulity may discourage young players to hurl their GBA's out the window or against a brick wall. Then theres the annoying "find a chip for someone to advance the story' thing. Yes, it's quite annoying to have to find a freaking chip just to advance the story- and the thing is- the chips are usually very rare. -_-; Meh, any hoo, the games still fun. if your a fan of RPG's or of Megaman, then this games for you. Overall Score- 8/10
