C'mon Fred, are you working to prove that Wayne was right & I am wrong?
Guess I'm just a bad judge of good character.
Nonetheless, I NEED those records and original tax returns.

Hi Fred;
Now that I am back from 4 weeks worth of travel, I have to honor the commitments I made to several people before I left for Hawaii.
Some of those commitments require the paperwork included in the pile of folders you picked up just before leaving for Enqland.
Would you please get those files back to Shawn ASAP?
Thanks, Fred.

Subject: Re: Money, Again

Fred,
Thanks for finally responding.
I haven't much time here today, so I will be fast.
When We closed on the house in July 2002, I received $13,370. I took $1,370 as cash and gave you the balance to hold, $12,000 for our partnership.

In August, 2002, you drove out to Redlands to give me $5000 so I could get a cashierrs check to pay Jeanne Wagner back.  When I asked for deposit money for the apartment, you never responded, so I borrowed the money from Anna Lynda (that opened up a whole new can of worms).

In September, 2002, I asked you for $300 and you brought me $500 in LA, for my trip to Washington, DC, for the cancer society.

In October, 2002, you asked for the $5,000 back for a downpaynemt on a house that you were going to buy so I could help you refurbish & resell homes in Mo Val.  I told you the best I could do was to give you $4,000 out of the $4,500 that I was due to get from the Expert witness contract that was due to be paid in November.  I ended up discounting their bill and could only afford to give you $3,000. The jpg of the deposit slip with your checking account number is attached.  Even though I told you I'd give you another $1,000 out of the following month's pay check, I never did because I ended up paying Anna Lynda back for the Apartment deposit.

In November, 2002, I needed another $5,000 to pay back Stan Mayer.  You never responded to my calls so I ended up giving him my $23,000 Bill Blass piece, "Symphony".

In December, 2002, I needed $1,200 for Cal State to enroll for my Intern-Credential.  You said that I wouldn't have to teach after this school year and that I shouldn't do this "unless you REALLY want to".  I didn't - you didn't hire me, and without the Intern-Credential, neither did Colton.

In March, 2003, I called to get money so I could enroll in the Summer session.  You talked me out of it because you were going to need me to put together a shared data network for your firm.  I did get you to Western Union me $500 so I could pay for the CSET test that allowed me to keep my teaching credential as a "Pre-Intern" and go back to school in September 2003, if I was rehired.

In July, 2003, you said that you would need me for work in September, 2003.  When I found out I wan't going to be rehired by Colton because I wasn't enrolled in an Intern-Credential plan, I didn't worry too much, because you were going to be needing me.  But you stopped returning my calls.

When you finally responded to my email, you offerred to give me some of my money back as an airline ticket to Virginia for the interview for the North River College teaching job.  I re-evaluated my options and decided that with the money you were holding (since it didn't appear that I was ever going to get a house through you) I could finish my Masters work at University of Phoenix and take the job that was offerred at RCC in communications.  I figured you still held $9,000.  I needed $6,000 to finish UOP.  I'd be in fat city. You said that we needed the money for construction on the house that was in escrow for the "partnership".

August came & went.  No work from Fred, no responses to my calls.

September came, I was kicked out of the apartment.  I had enough cash to pay the rent but didn't have the $100 to pay the back electricity bill & the law says that if you don't have utilities they can evict you.  You never responded to my call. Arlene left me a scathing message that said that even though you two were remarrying I should not call her about "business plans with Fred, in fact don't call back".

Because I was evicted, even with cash in hand, I couldn't get a cheap studio in Edgemont.  I ate up the rent money between weekly stays in hotels and food bills.  Not having a regular job and no address I ran out of that money fast and still no reply from you.

Your platitudes are accurate, Fred.  My welfare is my responsibility.  I chose to trust people like Mondy, Wayne and you.  I believed you were in earnest when you said that we would be doing these things together.  I understand that things don't always work out as we plan - for you as well as me.  But instead of returning me my money so I could act to take care of myself and get into the Cal State program that would have enabled me to DO for myself, you insisted that it wasn't going to be necessary.  I trusted you.

In August, 2003, when I wrote and voicemailed that my utilities were turned off or that I was served with a 3-day pay or quit from the apartment, I never heard a peep out of you.  In September, 2003, when my "home" - my car - was impounded for lack of tags and insurance, you never said "hey Warren, I am holding this money for you, you better use some of it to get your car back".  You simply never responded to either email or voice mail. When Arlene told you of my plight, you never jumped to my rescue with my own money.

When I was working, I was self sufficient. Between the money from Colton and MBE, I not only paid my day to day bills, but saved enough to pay Anna Lynda's car and pet bills, Vanessa's car and school-book bills and various licensing bills for my emergency-teaching certificate.  I only owed Jeanne and Stan on personal loans.  I simply defaulted on the others.  Don't tell me you gave me more than I gave you.  Other than those instances, I never received money from you.  In fact I returned to you $3,000 of the $5,000 (of my own money) that I "borrowed" from you.  If you want to count the occasional meal/coffee/desert that you covered, that's fine.  But we are FAR from settled on this money.

Without a car, I can't even say I'll meet you half way.  I will find a way, via bus, to get to whereever you want me to go to get this money from you.  Like you said, I am not your responsibility.  I am my own responsibility.  I ! am taking that responsibility.  The balance of my money that you are holding will pay for UOP while I continue my work at Circle-K.  Inside of a year, I will be teaching at RCC.  I WILL DO IT MYSELF - you've just added another lesson to the "don't trust others" book.  You are not responsible for my success or failure.  You are just responsible for my money.
