The Warming Ventura County program was recently started in July 2006 with the purpose of bringing handmade items to people in need throughout this Southern California county.  Such items range from warm garments to household items like dishcloths. Although making and donating these items may seem small, those receiving them know how much time and care were put into them. Not only can a warm item save someone's life on a cold night, it will bring joy and love into a life that has seen rough times.

We need your help! Anyone who knits, crochets, sews, or quilts knows that we make too many things to keep all to ourselves. Practice your craft while helping someone less fortunate. We need generous people to make the items on our list that are desperately needed. When you have something to donate, email Warming VC for a mailing address or to discuss alternate means of exchange. Summer is a great time to start a garment that will keep someone warm in the winter.

We are currently serving the Lighthouse Women & Children’s Rescue Mission. Please see the “About” page for information on this amazing organization and the “Items Needed” page for a detailed list of the items you can make and donate. Our goal is to serve more organizations as more people get involved. Help us get the ball rolling!
