WAR DOGS OF VIETNAM
Mention our involvement in Vietnam today and you may get a variety of responses and reaction, from anger and bitterness, to pride and honor.  The military action in Vietnam was only classified officially as a 'conflict,' not a war.  I imagine those who fought, were wounded, and those that died, would beg to differ with that title.
When Vietnam ended, there were a lot of negative feelings about the War and towards the soldiers who fought.  Today, thanks to classes being taught about the Vietnam War , the unsealing of previously sealed classified governmental documents, and those in society who want to know what REALLY happened, the tide is changing ever so slowly.  As our veterans begin to experience a small sense of gratitude for their service during that time, there is one unspoken hero that has gone unnoticed - the
war dog.
Many don't know, but dogs were a big part of our involvment in Viet Nam.  Dog handlers and their dogs were extremly close.  The use of dogs saved many lives during our time spent in Vietnam.
You see, dogs are soldiers that are ALWAYS on duty!  They require little sleep and little food and in exchange for their low maintence, their senses are always focused, ready to warn of danger within seconds.

This website is dedicated to the handlers and the dogs who served valiantly in Vietnam.
