1. STATUS REPORT ON THE   I - PHASE LITERACY CAMPAIGN IN WARANGAL DISTRICT

    In the 1st phase of Akshara Sankranthi campaign which was launched on 2nd October,2000, a target of 2.50 lakh Non-literates was fixed for the District covering all the Non-literates under Self Help Groups.

    Tha Campaign which was extended upto 31-03-2001 turned out 1,55,641 Neo-literates against the enrolment of 2,32,289 learners achieving 67% result success.

    The Constituency wise achievement of phase-I are as follows:

II.  II-PHASE OF AKSHARA SANKRANTHI PROGRAMME IN WARANGAL DISTRICT

       In the on-going II-Phase of Akshara Sankranthi (2nd October,2001 to 30th April,2002). A target of 2.05 lakh Non-literates was fixed which includes 80,000 slow learners/un-successful learners from Phase-I, 25,000 Non-literates of Warangal Muncipal Corporation and 1,00,000 Non-literate clintele in the rurral areas under Self Help Groups, and Other than Self Help Groups.

    The following is the progress of Akshara Sankranthi Phase-II as of 15-04-2002.

General Remarks And Present Status

    In view of the campaign which has been extended upto the end of April-2002, Internal Evaluation of the performance of learners is being takenup in all the the mandals habitation wise.

    The Evaluation/Grading sheets have been supplied to each learning centre and the Volunteers were trained to assess the performance of each learner.

    The result of successful and solw learners will be received by Zilla Saksharatha Samithi at the latest by 25th April,2002.

Preparatory Action For Phase-II  Of Akshara Sankranthi

    The Action Plan for the III-Phase of Akshara Sankranthi which may commence during ensuing October-2002 is being formulated taking into consideration the feed back received from the Constituency/Cluster/Habitation level literacy finctioneries.

III Status position of continuing education programme

    There are 90 Nodal Contuining Education centres and 632 continuing Education Centres functioning in the district since september,1998 covering all  the 50 rural mandals and municipal areas of Warangal district and Janagaon.

    An amount of Rs.150.06 lakhs (1st year grant of Government of India) including an amount of Rs.41,50,569.00 was utilized towards recuring and Non-recuring expenditure as per the guidelines issued by the Director of Adult Education, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad.

    As of November,2001 all the 90 Nodal Continuing Education Centres, 632 Continuing Education cEntres are functioning  and 722 Preraks are in position.

    The Continuing Education Centres/Preaks are fully involved in the Literacy Campaign Akshara Sankranthi and catering to the needs of Neo-literates with the help of CEC/NCEC Committees.

    Apart from Literacy Programmes the Preraks are actively participating in Janmabhoomi, Clean & Green, Pulse Polio, Enrolment Drive and other village level welfare activities.

    The 2nd year Grant is expected to be sanctioned by the Government of India as Total Literacy Campaign / Post Literacy Campaign and Continuing Education of Adult Education, Andhra Pradesh Hyderabad.
