In order for a technology facilitator to “FACILITATE”, there has to be material bases, or resources of technology. We will need hardware, software, web resources in place before hand then we can facilitate them. Where do those come from? We, technology facilitator, as well as library media specialist has to figure out on what do we need, make a plan, then make a budget proposal, get the money and find the proper vender who can offer us the qualified product, delivery in time, provide decent after sale service, and discounted prices. Without the skills of planning and budgeting, the rest become impossible.
The “Science Park High School Library Media Center Policy Menu” sets up the procedures from the starting to the end of the budgeting / purchasing process, down to each particular responsible person at each step. The “Science Park High School Library Media Center Technology Plan” and “Science Park High School Library Media Center Vision” set up goals and steps of reaching it. It services as the bases of the budgeting process. The The other phase of implementation of technology infrastructure is to “model integration of software used in classroom and administrative settings including productivity tools, information access/telecommunication tools, multimedia/hypermedia tools, school management tools, evaluation/portfolio tools, and computer-based instruction.(TF-VII.A.4)” The artifacts listed below, such as the Media Center e-board posted “Webliography - Database Resources, the Digital Story Telling Project “Stop Cutting Fund on Education; the on-line tutor/trouble shooter: Spectrum, the library automation software and the podcast project: “Introducing a Book, The Analects”, provided a variety of models on applying multimedia / hypermedia production tools. ___________________________ Reference: Twomey, C., Shamburg, C., & Zieger, L.
