The traditional role of the teacher librarian has now shifted from library centered bibliographic instruction to classroom centered instruction. Educational media specialists need apply technology to facilitate effective assessment and evaluation strategies. The role of the librarian as technologist includes not only knowledge of resources but also a basic knowledge of software, hardware, networks and technological trends. When these two roles are merged together, the librarian becomes an essential partner of classroom teachers.
The artifacts presented below demonstrate my qualifications satisfy TF-IV indicators. The Excel application in assessing student learning “Preparing HSPA Math” is an example on how the technology can be used to collect the data, analysis the data and direct classroom teachers on their on-going teaching practices. To delivery the assistance to the teachers via technology resources is an important part of my service. As the administrator of the “Turn-it-in” of our school, I have been using a variety of ways to help our teachers to use this powerful student assessment service. For example, I gave the teachers workshops; posted the “one minute on-line tutor”, and have the taped lecture “turn-it-in student orientation” posted in our school’s media cast system. Teachers can retrieve in their classrooms any time as they need. This service has been proved a huge success. The service has been used almost 100% all the time by teachers of all content areas. As Twomey, Shamburg and Zieger pointed out: a technology facilitator needs to “apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies to assist teachers. For example, how is authentic assessment used in project-based, problem-based activities (p. 43) ?” The three artifacts, WebQuest, “Algebra”, Problem Based Learning Project “Build Your Own Green Building” and the Research paper: PBL in Science Park High School, show my qualifications on this respect. _______________ Reference: C.
