What is the secret to losing weight? It is just three basic principals. (1) Eat Healthy portions of protein, carbs, and the right fats. (2) Exercise on a consistent basis. Yes, at least 5 times a week. (3) Set realistic healthy goals. Make that commitment and watch your whole life change. You must believe in yourself. Unlock that cell that has held you prisoner for so many years. No one will do it for you. Look in the mirror and see all the wonderful qualities that you have been overlooking. After you see them, believe in them, and use them, you will suceed in anything you attempt.
The Mind and Body Connection
by Wanda Goss

The "Mind and Body Connection is a new edition to my web site. With obesity becoming a huge health issue in today's world, I wanted to take a moment and capture some of the reasons we let ourself get out of shape. Life is so fast paced that there is rarely time to just sit down let alone exercise. Many of us need someone to help us get out of bed in the morning to work out. Sometimes it's just too hard to work out, or run to the gym, after a long day.

Why should we, after all, don't we deserve that extra piece of cake or pie. What about the drinks with the gals or guys after work, sure the calories add up but they are my friends, right?  Why don't we move ahead a few decades down the road. If we don't take the time now for ourselves, work out, and eat right, we could be looking at hospital care big time. I know I don't want to spend my time in a wheel chair, or hooked to a machine. I want to run with my grandchildren and enjoy all the freedom my retirement years have to give.

I truly believe that your mind plays a major role in your success.  Reality truly is as you perceive it. If you see yourself suceeding you will surely accomplish your goal. Start now.  Today. Make that promise to yourself and start a full blown campaign to rebuild your future.

It doesn't take a lot of gimmicks. Just exercise 30-60 minutes 5 times  a week.  Make sure you get in some strength training at least 3 times a week and cardio 4-5 times a week. Eat healthy. Stay away from fad diets, white flour, sugar, and bad fats. . Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and protein (meat, dairy, or vegetable).Watch your portion sizes (Your portion size is your fist doubled up). Monitor your drinking habits. Water is great. But, alcohol has a lot of empty calories.  Stay consistent. Exercising now and then won't do it.

You have the key to your success. Let's start now. Go to your calendar and mark down your start date. Then get a journal and keep track of all you eat and how you feel. Anger, boredom, and depression often mask themselves as false food cravings. Think about what you eat. Are you really hungry?

Find something you like to do instead. Take the dog for a walk or going outside bike riding with your significant other. Use that gym membership. Find a personal trainer to teach you the basics or keep you motivated. Sign up for a dance or aerobic class. Pop in your favorite music video and dance. Enjoy life. This is all about a lifestyle change. Notice I did not say diet. This is not a temporary fix. It's your life.

Remember to always eat breakfast. Then eat a mid-morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and dinner. Don't eat right before bed though. Too, many calories with no place to go except your mid section or thighs.

Positive thoughts equal positive outcomes. What ever you think about will truly come pass. So let go of all the negative baggage.

Start fresh. Be a role model for your children, spouse, or friend.  Help them if they are overweight. Workout together or plan activities that will burn some calories and make memories, too.

What a wonderful gift, the gift of health can be. Share it with someone today!

One year from now you'll love the new you!

All the Best
