SUPPLEMENTAL READING  FOR LEARNING THE INTERNET

 

Sign on to the internet and open the Microsoft Internet Explorer - the browser with the big blue “E” for its icon.

 

Click on the address box, type the URL - http://www.internettutorials.net - into the address box and press the “Enter” key. 

 

Click on “Favorites” in the menu bar and, in the drop down window, click on “Add to Favorites…” and then click on “Add”.  This will place the Internet tutorial page in your list of favorite places so you won’t forget it and so that you can return to it without having to reenter the address.

 

 

 

1st Reading Assignment

At the website http://www.internettutorials.net , under BASIC INTERNET, click on “A Basic Guide to the Internet”.  Read from the beginning of the page thru the section on “E-MAIL”.

 

Return to the previous page and, under BASIC INTERNET, click on “Understanding the World Wide Web”.  Read from the beginning of the page thru the section on “HOW TO ACCESS THE WORLD WIDE WEB: WEBBROWERS”

 

 

2nd Reading Assignment

At the website http://www.internettutorials.net under RESEARCH GUIDES, click on “Checklist of Internet Research Tips” and read from the beginning of the page thru the section titled “SUBJECT DIRECTORY”.

 

Return to the previous page, click on “Conducting Research on the Internet” and read the introductory section and the sections numbered 1 thru 4.
