Yahoo, Ymail, Rocketmail Exercises
(Note:
your first time you are asked to choose the New Version – DO
IT!)
To
Begin
Go to the address mail.yahoo.com
Click on “Sign In”
Enter your Yahoo, Ymail, or Rocketmail address and your “Password”
Click on the “Sign In” box
Click on the picture of the envelope with the word “Mail”
Writing
Email, ie. How to write and send an email from
your email address
Click on “New” (Compose) a new tab is then opened labeled “New Email Message”
In the “To:” field, type the instructor’s email address wallyfant@yahoo.com
In the “Cc:” field, type your own email address Your-ID@Your-Email.com
In the “Subject” field, type the subject info, eg. “A reason for web email”
In the blank message space, type your message, eg. a reason for web based email
Click on the “send” box and note that the message has been sent.
Click on either the “OK” box or the “X” in the “Message Sent” tab.
Receiving Email, ie How to receive, open, read and remove or delete your Email
Click on “Check Mail”
Select a message and open and read it, by clicking on the message’s subject line
After opening and reading your message, click on the “Delete” box
Note: If you wish to keep your message do not click on “Delete”. However, if you do
delete it, it can still be retrieved for “awhile” from the “Trash” folder
Sending
Email with Attachments
Click on “New” (Compose) – a new tab is then opened labeled “New Email Message”
In the “To:” field, type the instructor’s email address wallyfant@yahoo.com
In the “Cc:” field, type your own email address Your-Yahoo-ID@Your-Email.com
In the “Subject” field, type the subject info, eg. “picture attached”
Click on the “Attach” box with the picture of the paperclip
Select a file to be attached and Click on the “Open” box – note the successful attachment
Note: You may attach up to 10 MBytes to an email
In the blank message space, type a reason for sending the attachment and your name
Click on the “send” box and note that the message has been sent
Click on either the “OK” box or the “X” in the “Message Sent” tab.
Receiving
and Storing Email Attachments
Click on the “Check Mail” box
Select a message and, to open and read it, click on the message’s subject line
Under the sender’s name you will find a “paper clip” icon. Click or double click on it.
After the virus scan, click on “Download Attachment”. You can now “Save” it to your
computer or “Open” it for viewing. Note: after viewing it can also then be saved.
In any case, saving will require you to choose a place to save it.
