This site is dedicated to helping PREVENT scamming on neopets. Many of us have been victems, even more have seen and heard of it, and a dastardly few do it. Its often the new players who fall prey, but once in a while even a vetran of neopets will be taken.
Check out the site and look at the different kinds of scams out there. As the Anti-Scammers Guild catches the scammers in action, we will post the new scams.
General Run down of Scams
The Million Neopoint Scams
I've not seen these, but I have heard of these. Some folks will make
pages that look like neopets.com sites and have on them saying something like "Congratulations you've made it to the secret
4,000,000 nps screen! Now enter your username and password
to claim your 1 MIL nps and a baby paintbrush!" Obviously, this is just a cheap way for them to get hold of your account info. You type in the info, and they get it sent to them. Congrats, you just gave access to your account to a scamer.
The Impersonating Neopets Staff Scam
The Neopets Team will never EVER contact you through
AIM, MSN, ICQ, or through phone calls or emails. You can check the AIM section of the site for what happened when Coyote responded to one of the requests for an aim conversation. Neopets will contact you as "Neomailing"
with the username "theneopetsteam." Always check
the username before giving out ANY information about yourself
/ account.
The Change your Email scam
Someone might neomail and tell you "oooh
change your email to scammers_email@theiremail.com and you'll get 1,000,000
nps!" This is DOES NOT WORK! Once you change it to their email, they can request a "lost password", there by getting your password - and thus into your account. Unless your email has changed, there is no need EVER to change it.
Fake Login Pages
These can be found most often in shops. You go to click an item, and it take you into a log in page. Odd, you just were logged out - time to log back in. GOT YOU! Your not logging into neopets.com - the info you type in is sent straight to the scammer! If this happens to you, and you notice it - change your password as fast as you can!
Secrets - Click here for example
People claim to know "secret areas" in
neopets or how to get rich FAST. They may know some, but none you should pay for and none give you a fortune. They often will ask for NP for the info to get to the world, or for expensive items, or for the secret info. NEVER give it out to them - its just a scam!
Simply report them. There are "secret areas"
and "unreleased things" on neopets but its best
to not lose your np and items, right?

Its crazy, but it works! We feel sorry for people scammed! There are people who claim they are scammed, but arent'. They want attention, and hopefully free items and np others will send them. They may say " please help me out, ive lost everything to a hacker - my pets are starving, I have no np - please help me " .
This all naturally is a scam, one of many as you can tell.
Item Scams
Some jerks will place a items thats in high demand
item a very low price. People see this cheap buy, and rush to get it! Well if they didn't look the price when they get there before they click on it - an item that sells for 5,000np will now be like 30,000np
instead! Put it at a low price, then quickly swap it to a high price! OY!
CHECK THE PRICES BEFORE YOU BUY ITEMS!!!!
The "Press Certain keys on your keyboard"
scam
People will claim that if you hold down certain
keys on a certain page that youll get some sort of item, or np. NOWHERE ON THE NEOPETS SITE
WILL HOLDING DOWN CERTAIN BUTTONS WORK! Though one key combo can be used to bookmark a page - so a scammer might tell you hold down these keys when you goto this "new" log in page - and youll get 1,000,000 np when you log in. You bookmark their fake log in page, and then also log in on the fake page and give them your password. then you have a fake log in bookmarked, and you keep using it until you catch on :P
