What is the Walk?

A small group of enthusiastic individuals spent their summer walking the 1000 miles from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Washington, D.C.  The Walk began on Sunday, June 2, 2002 in downtown Milwuakee and ended on August 11, 9 days ahead of schedule, in Washinton, D.C. 
The walkers spent most of their nights camping and occasionally stayed in host homes.

To raise general awareness of the situation in Burma

To bring nation-wide media attention to the oppressiveness of the conditions under which the  
   Burmese live

To raise support for relief work with the refugees of Burma

To increase global concern and action among college students throughout America

To incite nation-wide prayer for Burma, specifically on the
Global Day of Prayer for Burma on
   March 10th
