St. Cecilia's Music
Cecilia was a young patrician woman whose ancestors loomed large in Rome's history. She vowed her virginity to God, but her parents married her to Valerian of Trastevere.

Cecilia told Valerian that she was always with her guardian angel, but in order to see this, he must be baptised and he agreed to do so. He was baptised; and found Cecilia in prayer accompanied by a guardian angel. The angel crowned both of them and offered Valerian a favor;  he asked that his brother be baptised.

The two brothers gave proper burial to martyred Christians. They were arrested and martyred for their faith. Cecilia buried them at her villa on the Apprian Way, and was arrested for the action. She was ordered to sacrifice to the Roman Emperor, whom the Romans worshipped as a god and when she refused, she was martyred in her turn.

In later times, the Pope declared her as the Patroness of Music, as she was very devoted to religious music

Her feast is on November 22.
