Smallbore Rifle Shooting

The rifles used are .22 calibre single shot target rifles.  Sporting rifles using magazines are permitted but are ineligible for club competitions.  Clubs can provide rifles, jackets and other equipment for members.

Beginners generally shoot off a stand from a prone position, however most competitions require shooters to shoot off a sling.  Most clubs do not have an age limit, but generally the shooter must be able to hold the rifle.

Smallbore rifle shooting is shot all year round – Indoor in the winter and outdoor in summer.  Indoor shooting is generally shot at 25 yards with the normal course of fire being 10 or 20 shots plus sighters.  Outdoor shooting is shot over 50 metres using the same rifles as indoor.  The normal course of fire is 30 or 60 shots plus sighting shots.

Air Rifle Shooting
