Here's the ugly chainlink fence, in early spring 2001. I had just put in a 30' long raised bed
for roses & perennials, and planted climbing roses along the fence.
The same shot now, May 2003. The bed has expanded and filled in,
and the climbing roses almost completely hide the ugly fence.
Here's how it looked the first summer (2001), with sweetpeas,
larkspurs, and other bedding plants. Before the roses started to grow.
Here's the back side of the same fence May 2003, the side that faces the neighbors
and is visible from the street, covered with roses and clematis.
