Who We Are
We are a Confederate Artillery Unit. Our soldiers are certified in their cannon drills by the National Artillery School operated at Old Fort Niagara. We currently have a full scale ten pound parrot rifle.
We also boast one of the most authentic Confederate Civilian Corps. Children are welcome and encouraged to participate. This is a wonderful hobby for the whole family.
What We Do
WA is an reenactment society. We participate in local reenactments and living history days. We also attend national events such as: Gettysburg and the Battle of the Wilderness. We are certified by the National Civil War Artillery Association, annually, for safety and authenticity. We make 2 trips to Gettysburg to maintain the position of the Washington Artillery each year
We are active throughout the year but in general, our season runs from early May through late August. Several of the national events are in the Fall. We keep a very active schedule so that our members may chose to do as little or as much as they wish. We do designate 1 event a month as a "maximum effort" event for unit participation.
Cost To Start
WA encourages new recruits to begin at no cost. Please come and
see if you like reenacting before investing financially in it. The unit
has a surplus of clothing and equipment to lend. We encourage new members
to outfit themselves over time.
