Biography: Larry McNeely
A little about myself: W5LJM  (ex- KC5NOD 1995-2004)
I was born in Dallas, TX. in 1959.  We lived in the West Dallas Projects near Singleton and Westmoreland.  I graduated from Medina High School in 1977, while living at Medina Childrens Home.  In 1982, I married Linda Hamilton of Lakehills, TX. and have four beautiful children.  All are adults and on their own.  Their names are Sam, Cory, Erin and Audra - in that order.  And out of these four, I have three grandbabies.  They are Colsten, Cory's son - Brianna, Cory's daughter - and Dylan, Audra's son.
My interest include, but not limited to - computers, homebrew antennas, digital photography (since I purchased my first digital camera), working with fonts and font graphic programs, homebrew QSL cards, volunteer firefighter, fishing and hunting. ...
NEXT- Amateur Radio.
I became an Amateur Radio Operator on March 28, 1995  while living in DeSoto, TX., a suburb of Dallas County, where I was active in RACES and other special events.  I upgraded to Tech Plus in 1997.  My family and I lived in DeSoto until July of 1998 then relocated back to the Texas Hill Country where my wife,
Linda KC5YYP, was born and raised.  I became familiar with the local clubs and repeaters in the area and met several good Hill Country Amateur Operators.  I soon upgraded to the popular 5 wpm General class soon after restructuring came about in 2000 and the 13 wpm requirement was eliminated.  On  January 20, 2006, I finally achieved the Amateur Extra status on my license grant and became an Extra Class Volunteer Examiner soon afterward.  My interest include building homebrew antennas.  I like VHF FM and SSB and venture into HF now and then.  I operate HF on a Kenwood TS-120S as a base station.  I have 2 good mobile radios, single band 2 meters.  One is an ADI AR-147+,  the other is the famous RS HTX- 212 and a new Yaesu FT-7800 dual band.  I have 2 HTs.  One is an ADI AT- 201, 2 meter only, the other is an Alinco DJ-195.  I switch out antennas so often, that I have no idea what I own at the moment.
I hang out on local simplex 145.630 MHz. and the 147.180 repeater, K5EOC.  When the 10 meter band is "open", I frequent 28.345 - 28.500 MHz. to find a few
10-10 operators and exchange numbers with them.  I'm not a paper chaser, but I enjoy the activity.  I enjoy building homebrew antennas.  A few of these are listed on the Antenna Design page. My favorite of all design is the TV Antenna Yagi, made from damaged TV antennas.
I have served as a firefighter with Southwest Volunteer Fire Department in Southwest Bexar county.  I am certified in AED and CPR, as well as other aspects of the department.

I am a member of the San Antonio Rado Club, where I had served on the Board of Directors.  I am a member of ARRL .
