The second installment in the Evil Dead trilogy, the Evil Dead 2 begins with a brief summary of events leading up to the point where the first movie ended. Due to the fact that the creators of the sequel could not secure the rights to the first movie, they were unable to use scenes from it as a preamble. Instead, in the introduction we are reacquainted with the circumstances in the first movie through a "flashback" to events which were made to look somewhat similar to the original story but in reality never occurred. Once again the main attraction of this movie is its star. Bruce Campbell is back and turns in another stellar performance. It's difficult to put into words a description that would do this movie justice. At any rate, a film that employs belligerent severed heads in a vise combined with the subtle utilization of a chainsaw and a 12 gauge shotgun can't be all that bad!
