Getting to the Pilot Screws

You will need to remove the seat, fuel tank, throttle drum cover, and air cleaner housing.

mixscrew1.jpg (110266 bytes)     Remove the throttle drum cover to make room to drill the plug out on the left side carb.

mixscrew0.jpg (96994 bytes)     The arrow in this image points to the pilot screw plug for the carb on the right side of the bike. This would normally be hidden by the air cleaner housing.

mixscrew2.jpg (79025 bytes)     The arrow in this image points to the pilot screw plug for the carb on the left side of the bike.

mixscrew3.jpg (72183 bytes)     I used a 1/8" bit. The metal is very soft so don't apply much pressure while drilling.

mixscrew8.jpg (70950 bytes)     mixscrew4.jpg (81992 bytes)     These two images show the plugs after being drilled.

mixscrew9.jpg (72093 bytes)     Use a screw that will get tight in the hole with about two turns.

mixscrew5.jpg (77378 bytes)      Turn it with a screw driver until the plug starts to turn.

mixscrew6.jpg (73682 bytes)     Use a pair of pliers to wiggle the screw up and down and gently pull the plug out.

mixscrew7.jpg (64945 bytes)     Image shows the removed plug and an arrow pointing to the now exposed Pilot Screw.

Turn the screws in until they are lightly seated then just turn them out 3 1/4 turns.

I suggest you buy a manual for your bike. I got mine from http://www.helm.com/
