| It all started with Baby. I went to the local pet shop, saw him sitting in a small cage and I decided to purchase him. Shortly after his purchase I located a local breeder by the name of Jim Kelly. I set up a date and time to meet him at his home and see his stock on American Singers, Red Factors, and German Rollers. I was amazed at what I saw. I purchased my first hen, a Red Factor. Shortly after that I went back again to purchase 3 American Singer, 2 hens and 1 singer. Now I started building my cages and at this point I decided to become a breeder. Once again I turned to the breeder refferral list on the ASC website. There I found yet another breeder that was local to me. Her name is Laura Schwanof. I set up a date and time to meet at her home and see her stock. Once again I was amazed. When I got there she had a great set up of American Singer, trophy, and ribbons. We sat and talked for a while, and in the short time that I was there I learned alot. She has been breeding American Singer for the past 13 years and she has some excellent birds. Shortly after our little conversation she started to show me her singer and hens. At this point I purchased 2 hens and 1 singer. After this visit I went back again to purchase yet another hen. Now I am a reg. breeder with the ASC, and I love my birds. I would not give it up for anything. I still have alot to learn. But it's like the old saying go's. Your never to old to learn.
