Many people pay more attention to the celebrities opinions than politicians / journalists. In the US the line between celebrity and politician is thin, as with Ronald Reagan & Arnold Schwarzenegger.  You could say that's since being elected is a popularity contest anyway, but it is hard to trust a professional actor's speeches to the masses.

Actor who acts as the US president ! in "The West Wing" is vocal about being antiwar. Even visited the Catholic worker 5 in Ireland ( pic on PloughsharesIreland.org ) who damaged a hangar and war plane at Shannon airport. The "acting" President of the U.S. grants them a full pardon...

They've never said anything like that on-stage, so you can't accuse them of just using their fame. 


2. Pro-War Celebs

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Austrian / US actor who visited the troops in Iraq to offer them support. Became republican governor of California in 2003. His website offered his views on gun control, gay rights, pollution etc etc. but there was no mention of Iraq. Obviously a non-issue as far as Arnold is concerned.
Britney Spears
Singer performed for troops.  Signed up to "Kaballah" religion.
Jessica Simpson
Sang for the troops dressed as a soldier.


Thayrone X, host of Bone Production Radio Show on WEMU
Accused his radio station of  'firing' me because I "stated an opinion on a controversial issue." The opinion: I support the troops and their Mission in Iraq.
