Welcome to Mel’s Place!
This page is one of those self-serving; let me tell you
about myself, pages. If you got here by
accident, sorry! If you were trying to
get to another page on my site, just click on the correct link above. If you’re here COMPLETELY by accident…
please email me anyway to say “Hi!”
Maybe the Fates were somehow trying to bring us together!
General thoughts for the day can
be found on my BLOG
page. Pictures from all around can be
found on the Picture Gallery My personal philosophies, brought to life in
poetry and prose, can be found on my Poetry and Prose
page.
If you’d like to have a page
added to start a discussion on a topic, just let me know! J
OK, so here comes the really
boring part when I share all of my favorite hobbies with you. Why “favorite”? Because they’re the ones that I devote enough energy to to
actually start or even complete a project in!
I’m sure I have OTHER hobbies, but they just didn’t seem to come to mind
when I was making the ‘list’.
(Note: you will NOT find history or sports on the list).
- Children and grandchildren
- Pets (especially dogs and their tails
or is that tales?)
- Collections of:
- Books
- Coca-Cola memorabilia
- Fantasy/Myth objects (specifically:
dragons, wizards, unicorns, phoenixes and castles)
- Telephone booths
- Wildlife and wolves in particular
- German Shepherd Dog figurines
- (Confession – stuffed animals too. Yes, I DO know how old I am. Thank you!)
- Computer stuff:
- Creating databases (logging automotive, medical and web address as
well as budget info)
- Buying and selling stuff on Ebay (SOME things I make and some
things I just want to find a new home)
- Creating framed pictures, t-shirts, tote bags, aprons, quilt
squares, etc. from transfers (when my printer is actually working.
::sigh::)
- Designing web pages (nothing fancy, just fun, basic stuff) –
anyone with a Yahoo address create one and the email address, online
photo albums and web page via http://www.oocities.org/
are
free.
- Doing research on topics of interest to me and friends (mostly on
the Internet, go figure!)
- Learning more stuff about Microsoft Office and building web pages
- Cooking:
- Soups and stews
- Pizza lasagna
- Sweet potato muffins
- Apple pies, brownies and cinnamon bread
- Stuffed peppers
- Stuffed cabbage
- Rouladen stew
- Special requests
- Crocheting
- Afghans
- Ponchos
- Anything else that’s remotely square!
- Genealogy
- Trying to find my roots (without a LOT of success, but then I
don’t devote a LOT of energy to this area and I can’t thank my cousin,
Bob’s, wife, Elaine NEARLY enough for helping me to find my
great-grandparents!)
- Designing, planning and building
- Jewelry
- Dream catcher baskets
- Cardboard boxes
- Dog houses
- Studying legends and spiritual beliefs of Native Americans
- Adding to my collection of O-gauge trains and building layouts
- Carrying my digital camera with me wherever I go so I can take lots
of pictures to cut, morph, paste and collage (and make wallpaper
from!) I really haven’t studied
all of the technical aspects like lighting and such, I just know what
appeals to me and I go with it.
- Sewing:
- Aprons
- Civil War era dresses
- Dog crate covers
- Mending (YUCK!)
- Quilts
