Welcome to Elin's The Sound of Music website! A website with everything related to The Sound of Music, the making of the movie and of course the books by Maria Von Trapp! I decided to put out a website, since I love this movie so much and I think story of Maria Von Trapp is very inspiring. There aren't many updated websites out there providing fans with pictures and info about the filming and about how the cast are doing now! I hope you will like this website and come back frequently!

Climb Every Mountain...
When the Sound of Music was released in 1965 it took the world by storm, earning five Oscars. For millions of people, the film is that rare combination of a powerful and moving story, first rate music, and breathtaking scenery of Salzburg!

"The Sound of Music" is a story about family and love, about loyality and courage, about sacrifice and standing up for what you believe in"

The Wishing Bell
It says that once in a hundred years, it happens that if someone rings this bell while pronouncing a wish, that wish, whatever it may be, will come true...The people of this valley call it the 'wishing bell.'

Maria Augusta Von Trapp was 28 years old, when she visited a friend, who was a famous writer, in Tirol. They went hiking in the Alps and came upon a quaint little chapel that looked down upon an enchanting green valley. Inside the church, Maria saw a rope dangling from the opening that led up to the steeple bell. She pulled the rope and said "I wish I could become a write too." Her friend stared at her incredulously. "Did you know the story," she said. Maria didn't!

Fifteen years later, Maria Von Trapp wrote her first book, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers

Seventeen years after that, a musical film based on that book changed movie history
