Gemstones

Our Guarantee: I've been dealing in gemstones since 1976. I've studied with GIA. I've been a faceter and gem cutter for over 25 years. If you purchase a gemstone from us and have it appraised by GIA headquarters, and the appraised value is lower than the price you paid for the gem, we'll refund the difference. That's our guarantee.

Museum-Quality Faceted Cuprite, 19 1/4 cts, Onganja, Southwest Africa
Cuprite, 19+ cts, Onganja, SW Africa

I'm not a photographer, so the picture does NOT do the gem justice. Anything that looks to be abrasions or imperfections are in the photo, not in the gem. This is one of the rarest of collectors gems in existance. Faceted cuprite is one of the most collectible of gems, and this is the largest and cleanest you're likely to find outside a museum. In all my years of dealing with gemstones, I've seen exactly ONE faceted cuprite for sale which was larger than this one, selling for $125 per carat... and that was 25 years ago! I was lucky enough to snap up the rough for this piece from an importer in 1978, then invested over a week cutting it... and the results were worth it! Note: this gem is pictured on Wikipedia as the example for faceted cuprite. How many folks own the "textbook" example of a gem?
Size: 12.1 mm modified hexagonal brilliant
Weight: 19.24 cts
Origin: Onganja, Southwest Africa
Price: $1400 (c. $73 per carat)

Danburite, 5 1/2 cts, Charcas, Mexico
Danburite, 5+ cts, Charcas, Mexico

This is another nice collector's gem of unusual size. Danburites that are clean and larger than 3 cts are very unusual, and this one is very nice and clean. This was actually one of the very first gems I acquired back in 1975. It's a fine, bright gem with a tiny hint of a pink cast.

Precious Opals, Coober Pedy, Australia
For once, the photos almost show how good these stones are. I cut these opals about 1980, and they're still in perfect condition... no signs or cracking or crazing. These are wonderfully stable since they've never been stored in any special manner to preserve it or stop them from aging.

Fire Agates, 1 3/4 cts to 58 cts
Fire agates, 1 3/8 cts to 58 cts

These are beautiful fire agates from the 1980s that I inherated from an Arizona turquoise worker and jeweler, and they are gorgeous! Every one is highly polished, solid and full of fire. (The flash washed out a good share of the color, but there's plenty there!) Most have the traditional golden bubble patterns of fire, but many have sections of red, green, and a few even have rare blue & purple areas! Go out and shop around... you'll be amazed at the prices good fire agates are bringing. These are a steal!

Mexican Opals
Mexican opals: precious, fire, matrix and water opal

A nice group lot of Mexican opals I've acquired over the years. The parcel includes 15 cabs from most of the types of opal mined in Mexico: fire opal, precious opal, matrix opal, and water opal. These have not been stored in any medium to prevent drying, and have been cut and stable for at least 15 years. (Only the highest dome matrix opal shows any cracking, but it's still stable and shows wonderful fire to make up for this.) There's lots of color and fire in this group of stones. Every stone has either a nice body color, visible fire, or both.

Moonstones: cat's-eye & blue flash

This is a gorgeous parcel of moonstones! No flaws, no knife-edged cabs, no duds... as the photo shows, these are all beautiful cat's-eye cabs with very strong light band except the bottom cab, and it shows clearly a nice bluish cast to it's sheen. All but the blue-sheen cab are calibrated sizes.

Jewelry

Azurite Sterling Silver Pendant
Azurite pendant
I love this pendant. I think it's one of the nicest pieces of sterling jewelry I ever made, and one of the few finished pieces on this site of my own workmanship. I cut the azurite cab myself from the rough, and it is probably one of the sweetest pieces of azurite I've ever come across. The smattering of malachite splotches through the stone just serves to make the gem that much more visually interesting. The blues are utterly fabulous, and the feathers with malachite beads hanging from the bottom just serve to make it one of those wonderful designs that come together just right.
Size: azurite 23 1/2 x 17.7 mm
Price: $50
Shipping: $5 or free when combined with items totaling over $500

Hopi Bracelet in Sterling Siver
Sterling silver Hopi bracelet
This is a beautiful example of Hopi design. The bracelet is made of solid sterling and the inlay of Mother-of-pearl, turquoise and coral is nice and tight... none of the loose sloppy work you usually see in cheap imitation pieces being imported. I have the provenance on this piece since the turquoise craze of the 1970s, so I know it's not some cheap recent knock-off. One look should tell you the same.

Size: front medallion measures over 27 mm across.
Price: $50
Shipping: $10 or free when combined with items totaling over $500

Wings of Mendocino Sterling Inlay Bracelets
This pieces of sterling inlay jewelry are wonderfully collectible pieces. The artisans who made them back in the 1970s were very talented inlay artists who took pride in their work, and it shows. The designs are executed from quality abalone, mother-of-pearl, and turquoise chip, and the enameling is clean and consistant. Another reason these pieces are collectible is because the company only produced their wonderful jewelry for a few years before someone stole their designs and started cranking out cheap imitations from south of the border. The prices of the imitations were cheap, and the quality and materials showed it. Unfortunately, the imitations were so inexpensive and the economy of the time was so tight that Wings of Mendocino was driven out of business. Fortunately, I acquired several pieces when I purchased a small bead & jewelry shop that was going out of business in the Eighties, and now I'm offering them for sale once again.

Wands

These wands were made by me personally, and are so time consuming I only average making about one ever year or so... they are labors of love, not made to generate income. Every component is handcrafted to exacting standards. They are "metaphysically engineered" (if you can use such a term) to very specific conditions. Each is crafted using genuine, unenhanced gemstones and crystals. Each gem was cut by me personally for the design of the wand. The metalwork is all sterling silver. The construction is all intended to make the wand both beautiful and functional. The crystals are naturally terminated, not repolished. The bullet cab at the base is intended give the wand a comfortable point of contact with the skin for metaphysical work. If you wish more specific information on their construction, feel free to contact me at the link at the bottom of the page.

Beads

Glass beads: close-up
This is a 25 year collection of assorted glass beads going up for sale as a single lot. There are thousands of beads in the lot from all over the world, from different eras, many of which you may have never run across before. This is a combination of the last beads from the bead & jewelry shop I purchased years ago, assorted beads I've added since then, and even beads I've lampworked myself. The collection includes beads from here in the US, Austria, Venice, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Asia, and probably other locations. There are a mix of fire-polished, cobalts, ruby glass, aventurinas, chevrons, millefiore, lead crystal (both old and new), African trade beads, modern lampwork, molded... etc etc etc. Click on the picture for a view of most of the collection. (The Swarovski crystals are seperated to prevent them being damaged.) It is only available as a collection... we won't high-grade or sell just a few select ones. Please don't ask.

Cobalts
Czech cobalts, 18+ mm rounds
I ran across these big beauties about 10 years ago, and I've been hoarding them like they're my children. But I guess it's time for them to leave the nest. They're Czech cobalts that run 18+ mm each, and they're just plain old gorgeous. I always tried to get these for my customers, but never seemed to have any luck until I wasn't looking and somehow lucked into four strands. I have no current source for these any more, so I only hope they find a good home.
Size: 18+ mm rounds
Quantity: 25 per strand
Price: $1 ea or $22 for a strand of 25
Shipping: $5 or free when combined with items totaling over $500

Amber Strands
Amber necklace
These strands of nice, solid, GENUINE (not reconstructed) amber beads are beautiful. They're all in the rich gold to sherry color range and strung on yellow cord. Some are ready to wear, but most are simply temporarily strung, awaiting whatever kind of clasp you may wish to install. I purchased these from a reputable importer who said they are Baltic in origin, and I've seen nothing to indicate they're not... whatever they are, they're truly beautiful, consistant, and becoming more rare every day, as anyone who deals with genuine amber can attest.
Size: 16" strand
Price: $20 for finished strands, $15 for temporary strung
Shipping: $5 or free when combined with items totaling over $500

Swarovski Crystal Rhinestones
Swarovski rhinestones
These are another item left over from the bead & jewelry shop I purchased. There are literally thousands of these wonderful, genuine Swarovski full cut (not flat-back) crystal rhinestones in many sizes. Colors include: crystal, crystal aurora borealis, emerald, teal, ruby, garnet, rose, aquamarine, topaz, peridot, amethyst, lt. amethyst, sapphire, tangerine, etc. The replacement cost on this lot would be many times the asking price. The photo is simply a tiny representative part of the entire lot.

Weight: 550+ gms
Price: $150
Shipping: $20 or free when combined with items totaling over $500
