Recording
your voice with a PC
1. According to my limited research (ie. this is what I do
on my PC), the sound recorder is to be located under Start
Menu > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment. It's
called "Sound Recorder" just to make sure. If it's
not there on your PC, search for it using Start Menu >
Find > Files or Folders.
2. Prepare your voice by coughing slightly and possibly doing
a small hum. Click the little red circle, and let your words
of wisdom flow. When you have finished, click the button with
the black square. Hey presto, your voice is recorded. You
can hear yourself by clicking the button with the single black
arrow.
3. Realise you sound like a dork and make several more attempts
to record your voice sounding more sauve/sexy/less like a
hippo.
4. When you are happy with your sound, go to File > Save
As and save the file as yourname.wav in the folder of your
choice.
5. Now you can merrily attach this file to an email and send
it off to
Voice
of the TM where I will helpfully convert it to an mpeg
for you and put it up on the site.
6. Alternatively, if you have the software available to record
mpegs or convert your wav into an mpeg, I would be most grateful.
I've been converting wavs to 32 bitrate mpegs, which while
it doesn't produce perfect sound quality, does significantly
reduce the size of the files.
Recording
your voice with a Mac
1. Go to the Apple menu and pick "SimpleSound".
Simplesound will record whatever you want as a system sound
file.
2. Prepare your voice by coughing slightly and possibly doing

3. Realise you sound like a dork and make several more attempts
to record your voice sounding more sauve/sexy/human.
4. Open the System Folder, then the System File itself, and
drag out the sound itself so you can work on it.
5. You can open the sound file with you Quicktime player,
choose Export and choose "Sound to Wave" from the
menu. Make sure to name the file yourname.wav. Hey presto,
you have a wav file.
