Erutirn The current 'rage' seems the debate on Partisan or non-Partisan political entities in Micro-Nations and the place, or lack thereof, of Culture. Both sides have had people weigh in and people not weigh in and I'm sure it is all worthy of a song longer than Alice's Resturant Masacrée, but... I doubt Arlo Guthrie will be writing a song about us anytime soon. Partisan politics is not the evil of non-existant politics that most people seem to make it out to be. I'd really doubt if there was ever a non-Partisan nation in existance (no, one-party doesn't mean non-Partisan, you still had reformers and the old guard who would argue and create partisanship). Oh, but that is macronational... we're better than them! Nope, sorry, partisanship will always exist and always has existed people always argue. Now this partisanship is what created politic parties, ideological groupings, et cetera and none of these things are evil. How does one pass legislation? How does one get the leaders of your nation to listen? It isn't by standing around, either in the one-party enviroment or the no-party enviroment, it is by getting a coalition of people who agree with you together and showing a unified front. That is how the parties started, that is how they should have stayed. Parties at their purest are not a tool of diversity, they are a tool for people to weigh in in a highly applicable fashion. Which shall be listened to more? Which carries more weight? "My friend and I propose..." or "The reformers propose...". Yes, it is the second one, why? Because even if you don't agree with the people in your party or the people in your group, you debate it there make it the best in the interests of you and your friends and then you provide a unified front to opposition and to the leadership. This is not a hinderance to government, it is a help it lets people be heard and be listened to when they are heard. The justification that 'this is micro-nations' or 'this is the apollonian way' or anything else is just smoke being blown up our collective asses. Micro-nationalists, Apollonians, Baracãoans, Menelmacari, Treesians, Babkhans, Atterans, even those two crazed Crandish... we're all people, yes, even Moogle Boy and Wombat Man, we're people through and through. As people we're sectionalist, partisan, and inheritly we don't like agreeing. Partisanship is here to stay, wether it is in parties, groups of reformers, or rampaging Chocobo at the gates. Culture, the other 'hot topic' is well, a rather silly debate. This is mostly an example of partisanship. We're better than you cause we hate 'Apollonian' and don't focus on culture! Well, sure we do, everybody does. Baracão has culture, Menelmacar has culture. The difference? Baracão's culture is based in something we like to call... reality, where as Menelmacar's is based in something refered to as: The Collective Void of Role-Players Everywhere (tm). People have derided reality and fantasy based culture over and over, it's just a choice. Who really cares if I want to say that my country has T-70 series tanks rolling down the streets or a giant randomly named gravship floating overhead. Honestly, it isn't like there is really a T-70 or Gravship to split between all Micro-nations everywhere. Political Ideology is also come under recent fire. Well... you can't bring macronational politics in here because they suck! Er, why the hell not? We can make Monarchies, Republics, Flying Pieces of Spam, why the hell can't people bring in macronational politics? Isn't like Micro-Nationalists are really going to be inventing new forms of self-rule, we just use the same thing people have always used and well, hate to break it to you folk, Socialism and Communism have emerged as actual forms of self-rule (The fact that no-one has really successfully pulled it off isn't the point and no, the USSR wasn't a communism. Stalin was a dictator and a rather paranoid insane dude, too). Let's see what else everyone has been engaging in large pissing matches over, the MCS Map and the Apollo Foundation. Uh, honestly, what does it matter folk? I know it was your hard earned relic of some war you all profess to despise and would never admit you really actually cared about the war or the people who started it, but... uh, it's all just a bunch of 0s and 1s and forums are probably less reliable than this notepad document I'm making this in! Who cares where one bit of the MCS map goes or not, it isn't like you people use simulated warfare models... so it really doesn't matter. RecWars will continue to go on wether or not some small dot on Scott's lovechi... map goes to you or to Billy Bob and the Farmes United Coalition Nation of Nextdooria. Really, amity is the holy land of blankity-blank! You can't give it away! Uh, why not? Cause you lose the magical possesion of a non-existant island? Mar Sara was our prize! So? Your point? You love to hate on the causes and the war itself, but try and take away your silly non-existant island and let someone else moderate the forum for awhile and you cry bloody murder. Take a step back, look at what you're doing. Would you beat someone up for some figment of their imagination and then try to beat someone else up for that same figment of imagination when they asked if they could have it? I really don't think you'd do that, honestly, a bit of maturity, come on, I'm sure we can all pull it off. And that
