Andy Vogel's Taiwan Pages

Ilan
In early May, we went with friends to Ilan- a port town on the northeast coast of Taiwan.
These are Connie and Chris- Jenny's friends from Cornell. We stopped along the eastern coast, which is rugged and dramatic.
This has to be the largest single tree that I've ever seen- or at least the largest canopy.
We stayed with their friend, A-de. Like Chris, he is an architect, and he has renovated their family's old brick farmhouse into a beautiful space, including his studio. The family lives in an adjoining modern structure.
We had a barbeque under the stars with A-de and his parents
This was the view from the room where we stayed. Their house sits in the middle of rice fields, and there is a large temple right next door.
