SWITCH BOX REPAIR
Over the years British auto electrics have aquired a somewhat unsavoury reputation . But, with carefull maintenance , any auto electrical system will perform as it supposed to . During WW2 , MCC used mainly Lucas and CAV/Bosch  brand equipment .
HEADLIGHTS
Until 1941 , the CS8 and PU models were fitted with CAV model 140 headlights . Many restorers seem to have difficulty finding these lights , and in many cases they use subsitute lights . It seems that there were two methods of mounting the lights in practice . Archive pics reveal the mounting stalks in either a vertical or horizontal state . During early 41 , the small WD pattern , socket mount lights were factory fitted , as confirmed by the  Mar. 41 CS8 - PU instruction book .
The above CAV headlight , although similar to the model 140, is actually 3/4" wider . I suspect that it was originally used on Matilda tanks and Loyd carriers . Note that the mounting fixtures are located further towards the front rim , compared to the model 140
The WD pattern sidelights were factory fitted from 1941
The logo on this light reads ' ALLIED EXCELLENCE - CAV BOSCH'
