What you can do on 20,000/30,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points (45,000 for business class)
The clue is...NEVER back track
You may have already checked how many points its takes to fly from Melbourne to Brisbane or Cairns or even Darwin or Perth and return
YES...30,000 of them
Well by using my method I can get you much much further. The key word here is actually mileage, and that's what Qantas works on...air miles. I don't fly from one destination and return...I fly from one to the other to the other until I get back to where I started. A one way ticket in other words
The image above was our very first trip using our 30,000 award points this way We started our trip in Melbourne and ended it in Melbourne.
We had a stop over in all the cities shown on the route
We can't do this anymore because they have introduced stricter guidelines which adds extra points for extra stop over (think they wised up a bit) BUT you can still get much further by doing the one way trick. Amazing, really considering if you had booked a return Melbourne/Perth - Perth/Melbourne it would have still cost you 30,000 award points (see image to the left)
