VISWADARSANAM - A Peaceful oasis in a busy world..........

Viswadarsanam is a voluntary organisation located in kerala in south India. It started on june 5th 1987, World Environment Day. Our aim is to make nature truly natural and human lives more cheerful and thus bring health, happiness and peace to society to prevent further deterioration of natural wealth, promoting a sustainable utilization of natural resources for human welfare. Essentially we are an environmental organisation and our activities include the following: establishing a devolepment centre for humanity and nature; prepairing newsletters, books, information sheets and audio visuals; and conducting guided educative wilderness trips, nature walks and trekking for interested groups. Our interests also extend into rural devolepment, cottage industry, art and cultural heritage, flora and fauna, travel and tourism.

Situated in one acre of beautiful land  at Nariyapuram, a quiet area of mostly farmers and farm workers in Vallicode village in pathanamthitta district, kerala, south India.

The Human Dilemma..

When will the air we breathe be clean and fresh? When will the rivers flow clear again? Will the birds fly again in carefree flocks and animals wander in the heart of lush green jungles and meadows? Should we wait and wait for nothing untill the curtain is pulled down on this tragic human panorama?

The human condition upon this wasted planet is undoubtedly difficult. Bloody riots and squabbles between different sects tear at the delicate web of human relations. Mans destiny looms shadowy on the horizon of the 21st century. Alienated from nature, from his fellow men and from himself, he is faced with formidable question: Will we survive to the next millenium?

We cannot afford to wait. That is why viswadarsanam has drawn up its plan of action. It calls the attention of all who have concern for this world, its flora and fauna and , above all , the destiny of mankind....
