Wine travels, France (Calvados, Burgundy and Bordeaux, Alsace, Rhone (Trip 1, South mainly; Trip 2, North), Piedmont, and California-- Living in Europe, I get to travel to all the destinations the wine crowd dreams about!  Next on the list is Austria and Germany.  And in the US, we made dozens of pilgrimages to Napa and Sonoma to taste and to attend events such as Russian River barrel tasting, Dehlinger open house, Turley open house, etc.   Click here for photos and details on my Riedel factory tour!

Legendary Wine Events, Part 1 and Part 2-- Ever since Rob and I took a wine tasting class back in 1995, we have been attending and throwing more and more wine events.  The Bay Area was a mecca for wine tastings, with the legendary Jim Mather events, VVW and Draeger's tastings, Ross Bott tastings, and our own events--the Churchill wine tasting parties and the SHOWDOWNS.  We held 5 showdowns, with many more in the future I'm sure.  A "showdown" is a blind tasting where we compare similar wines (ie Chardonnay or Pinot Noir) from France vs the US in a blind tasting.  Always a fun event, read on ... (Other events--5/00 amazing wine dinner in Nuremberg  3/01 Calon Segur dinner at Philippe's, 3/01 March wine pairing dinner)

My favorite wines, my collection-- Here are my favorite wines of all time, with tasting notes and descriptions.

Making our own wine--A little info and secret photos of the making of our first wine--a 1998 Napa Zin!

Food--I have taken many gourmet cooking classes and have been lucky enough to have eaten at dazzling restaurants around the world.  Here in Europe, I can get wonderful fresh ingredients from France, Italy, and Germany.  Amazingly, I learned much of what I know about cooking from two dudes--Scott and Rob--two very impressive gourmets.  These guys are cooking their way into the hearts of ladies all over the Bay Area.  Here you will find info on my favorite dishes, my favorite restaurants and my favorite gourmet stores.  Gentlemen, start your truffle slicers!  The latest addition to the kitchen gadgetry is a La Pavoni manual espresso maker--must be seen to be believed (and tasted)!   Dan's Michelin Star restaurant report!, New, 5/02--Lunch at La Pyramide in Vienne (**)

Dan's tasting notes archive--I've been lucky enough to try some amazing stuff all over the world.  Check out some of my comments.  Warning: I have the most off-the-wall descriptors around, such as "spearminty ants", "gym floor", and "roasted cloves".
