A Very Common Example of Root Clogging :
You may think this (below) is an extreme case of root clogging... Surprise!! It's not uncommon. This 6" clay sewer pipe (elbow) was just about completely restricted, and required removal and replacement. Dark material in pipe appears to be dirt.. but is actually dense, tightly packed, fine roots. Pipe cracked open for illustration.
