Joey Abraham was ready to take on the world. Happy with his life and himself he never failed to have a dazzling smile on display. He was always there for his friends and had a loving relationship with his parents. His sense of humor brought a smile to everyone's face, and he was more than happy to provide for anyone who needed his help. Only one short month into his senior year Joey knew that the Lake Flyers would finally make it all the way to the state football playoffs. Unfortunately, he didn't know that he wasn't going to be on the field with his team.
Joey Kid

On September 29th of 2000 Joey was driving down Ayers road and came to a railroad crossing that at the time did not have crossbucks nor lights. On one side a train was parked on the track nearest Joey. Not seeing anything coming from that direction, Joey was looking to the other side as he crossed the tracks. Sadly, he didn't see the Amtrak that was coming at 80 mph from the same direction as the parked train. Unaware, he began to cross the tracks, but didn't make it to the other side. His car was hit from the driver side and dragged down the track to the next road. He was said to have died instantly and painlessly. Even so, this did nothing to calm the community that knew him so well.

Currently, a wrongful death suit is in effect against the railroad for neglect on behalf of Joey. Not only was there a train parked on the tracks blocking his view, but it is also said that there was extreme overgrowth on the NW side of the tracks on Ayers road, from which Joey was coming from. Apparently, within 3 hours of the tragic accident, railroad employees had been sent to cut down the growth and move the train. In efforts to help the case for Joey, information is needed in regards to parked trains on this track as well as the trees and other overgrowth. The part of track in question is that which stretches between the crossing on Mathews and Ayers Rd.
