Utilities Infrastructure Water Excellent water quality and supply is provided to McCreary by a spring-fed well in close proximity to the pristine environment of Riding Mountain National Park. The 13,800-foot pipeline to the village operates by gravity flow and is capable of supplying 80 gallons per minute. The 75,000-gallon storage area is located under ground behind the treatment plant. The underground system, installed in 1965-66, is ample to supply a population of 1,000 to 1,200. Peak period consumption for McCreary substation has 3 main feeder lines that provide reliable service. Manitoba has 3 service rates that are uniform. McCreary is rated medium for the village and low for the rural area. Electrical power in Manitoba is supplied at the most economical rates available in Canada and North America, by Manitoba Hydro. Primary power source: Hydro Transportation McCreary is on the main line of CN Rail. Transport by highway is provided daily by Gardewine North. Courier service by Greyhound and Grey Goose each stop daily in McCreary. Purolator is also available. Air travellers may land on either of the two grassed strips adjacent to the village and highway 5. A Feasibility/Planning Study for an expanded airstrip was completed in 1994. |
