I created this log and plotted the asteroid 1998 WT24 + star field .. the original drawing was crude, so i created this redshift / photoshop version of it to keep. :-)

The faintest star I saw through binocs was 10.28 mag. There was no fog, The sky was unevenly light polluted .. it was a little better at the height of the asteroid.

The comments in the square brackets were added later from the memory.
I am using Uranometria 2000.0 for finding the rock.
Time (UT) Time (IST) Position/mark on the map Comments
13:52 19:22 1 [not there in uranometria. not yet confirmed that it the asteroid]
14:00 19:30 2 [not there in uranometria. not yet confirmed that it the asteroid. but i cant see anything in position 1. am using averted vision and cant say anything for sure]
14:00 19:30 X1 seems fainter than asteroid. [X1 is not there in uranometria, its a star as it has not moved for some time. just a hunch that what i saw in position 1 and 2 is the asteroid]
14:10 19:40 3 another very faint star.
14:12 19:42 it can be asteroid also. [am talking about position 3. but the asteroid isnt supposed to be here according to its path i traced in uranometria.]
14:13 19:43 4 yes it is the asteoid. it has moved to position 4. it is off its predicted position. cant say about Dec, but in R.A it is about 12' towards north .. for a comparison, see this finder chart generated through Guide 7.0
14:16 19:46 5 now it is confirmed, it is actually moving. [noticed the slight change in position]
14:19 19:49 6 hey rock! can you see me? earthling here ;-). i may loose it if i dont monitor it.
14:22 19:52 7
14:30 20:00 i think i lost it. i promise i will not leave it, let me get it.
14:35 20:05 this odd angle is taking its toll on me, i have started to hallucinate. [asteroid is over 60 degrees high and climbing. i am looking through a mounted binox. pain in neck]
14:35 20:05 8, X2 it is one of the position 8 and X2 [both objects not there in uranometria]
14:38 20:08 9 gotcha!! .. 8 moved to 9. hey rock its me again :-D, missed me!!
14:40 20:10 10
14:42-14:43 20:12-20:13 11 i actuall saw it moving w.r.t X2
14:45 20:15 now it is getting hard to watch. i have to open my mouth and put my teeth around this disk to make room [for my face below the binocs].[this disk is a circular thing near the base of the fork of the biox mount.]
14:48 20:18 12, X3 mission accomplished!! it is getting hard to observe. [X3 is not there in uranometria. it is the faintest star that i plotted]
