About Us: Doug and Vikki are concerned about preparing for any eventuality: economic crisis, blizzards, downed utility lines, tornadoes, civil unrest... the possibility of just about anything! So... they created a blog (www.survival-cooking.blogspot.com), and started research and writing books.

Topics interesting us and what we write about include:  homesteading, emergency and disaster preparedness, inventory check reminders, defense, seclusion, bartering, budget, self-sufficiency, backyard garden grocery gardening (i.e. victory gardens), food crops, companion planting, herbs, recipes using stored foods, eating cheaply, dehydrating, canning, processing foods for self-sufficiency, and much more! We write the books as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.  We'll make a note on this website and our blog when we've uploaded more books! Meanwhile, a little bit about us: Doug and Vikki live near Denver, Colorado with Tween (also known as Very Hungry Tween Kid = VHTK).  Doug works at a major utilities company during the week, and works at the homestead during his off hours.  Vikki is a former publisher, editor and writer, and is currently disabled.  VHTK does schoolwork at home due to several problems and also helps on the homestead, and loves to read. They also have a 4 year old Chihuahua and a very young Dala-Rotti-Mute (Dalmatian Rottweiler Malamute). This family are hard at work creating a special life for their family and hopefully, yours!
