Contest Guidelines


Eligibility and Membership
1. Participation is open to all existing school-based clubs and choral groups of DepEd accredited secondary public and private schools.
2. Participants should be bona fide students duly certified by the principal or authorized school official.
3. Each school shall be allowed to have only ONE entry.
4. Each entry shall consist of 16 – 30 singing members excluding the conductor.
5. The conductor should likewise be certified by the principal or authorized school official to be a bonafide member of the school.


Application and Registration
1. Participating choirs must personally submit the following:
• Application form accomplished in duplicate
• Three clear copies of the actual score
• Picture of the choir / group in action
• Soft copy of official school logo
• Registration fee of P500.00
Non-submission or falsification of any of the above requirements is a valid reason for disqualification.


Performance
1. Performers shall NOT wear their school uniform nor shall they be identified during competition. They shall be recognized only after the Board of Judges has submitted its decision.
2. Costume is encouraged though it is NOT included in the criteria for judging.
3. All songs shall be memorized.
4. No choreography or body movement is allowed.
5. Each choir is given 10 minutes to perform for the elimination round and 15 minutes for the final round. This includes the choir’s the entrance and exit.


Repertoire
1. Song requirements for the elimination round:
a. Two a capella songs suitably arranged for choral performance.
i. One Philippine Air which may either be in Filipino or in any dialect preferably ETHNIC, KUNDIMAN, INDIGENOUS, or FOLK SONGS
ii. One OPM song (Original Pinoy/Filipino Music)
Loosely defined, it is Filipino popular music commercially released through various means of mass media and promoted by popular music personalities. Examples would be song written by Louie Ocampo, George Canseco, etc. as sung by Martin Nievera, Leo Valdez, etc.
Previous Voices in Harmony contest pieces are not allowed to be used as the choir’s choice pieces.
2. Song requirements for the final round:
a. Same repertoire used in the elimination round.
b. A contest piece that will be provided by the organizing committee.
3. Pieces must compose of arrangements for SSA or SSAA (for girls’ choir), SAB or SATB (for mixed chorus), and TTB or TTBB (for boys’ chorus).
4. Medleys shall not be allowed.
