SEI-NAKE HABA SINTU
BLACK SOIL UNIVERSAL MOTHER
(Mythic and poetic Kogi Epic drama)

Authors: Luz Myriam Gutierrez
Alberto Torres
The Cosmic Egg rises from primeval waters and submerges into the mouth of the ocean and dozes the dream of creation. The foam of the sea, the Universal Mother, Haba Sintu, bears the solar jaguar gods: Aluna-Sintana and Mulkuexe. Aluna-Sintana steals the sacred fire and flies away transfiguring into the sun of dawn. Hunger begins to lash the gods in the ninth world. In vain, Aluna Sintana plants the eight soils that Haba Sintu has borne. The gods predict that the black fertile soil is hidden in the Universal Mother’s uterine labyrinth. Aluna Sintana carries out the magic rape of a ninth soil and has intercourse with her to give birth to Bunkueiji. Enraged by the Aluna Sintana’s theft of the ninth soil, Mulkuexe, his twin brother, returns. But, he is defeated by Bunkueiji and turned into the sun of dusk. Upset by the burden of mortality as the setting sun, he sets the sun astray and turns the Black Soil into red burnt soil. While Mulkuexe sends off a ray to spread fire all over the Earth, Aluna Sintana unleashes thunder to attract rainstorms and ease the burning body of his beloved, the Black Soil. Once the battle between the solar heroes has come to an end, Mulkuexe drinks the hallucinating fruit potion of the defeated to bring back celestial balance. Bunkueiji, collects the sacred Hayu leaves to celebrate the restoration of universal order, and Aluna Sintana, set in a deep sleep, predicts what will happen to Mother Earth beyond mythical time.
