Green Guide
Congratulations! You just impressed a green dragon. You have the hardest job of caring for a green dragon because they love to mate. The good thing about impressing a green dragon is that you don't have to visit with holders and Masters and keep them "entertained." Also, you don't have to hang on the arm of the winner of your green's flight as goldriders do. You will be taken aside during the eight month of training to be taught what to do during the mating flight.

This guide is written to help you understand your dragon's urges and to understand better as to what you are supposed to do during a mating flight. Dragons rise for the first time between the ages of 1 to 2 turns (years). There have be cases of "early risers" (If you want your dragon to be an early riser please email the BoD and tell us why you want your dragon to be an early riser.) Your dragon will rise about four times a Turn but, during a Pass, flights may become erratic and unpredictable. Injury or fatigue may also upset her cycle.

When your dragon is about to rise, she will become "proddy". These signs would include openly enticing male dragons to being mean, grumpy, irritable or temperamental. Remember: Your dragon's emotions will affect you. Sometimes, though, your dragon will rise without showing signs of proddiness.Greens rarely blood their kills when they rise. Your job is to be with them and to keep your dragon from going "between." This will be hard enough, especially since your dragon's emotions will affect you.

Throughout Weyrling Training you will be trained to keep control of your dragon throughout a mating flight. During the mating flights, substitutes are allowed. Such as "If my dragon catches yours will you be with me?". But it would be preferable if you could love someone enough to be with every time your dragon rises.

During the flight you and your partner will be ushered into the rooms built for the purpose of the flight. But remember, a flight doesn't always end in sex even though it will be almost impossible to resist your urges.

Most often, brown and blue dragons will catch your dragon. Sometimes a bronze will win. If you are uncomfortable and/or pressured to write about a sex act, offenders will be kicked out of the group. In the event of two greens rising simultaneously, the riders will instruct their dragon's to fly in opposite directions. Since they are sterile because of the firestone they chew, if they weren't we'd be up to our eyes in dragonets, they do not fight over the biggest, strongest, best mates.

Here are the major points to remember about green dragon flights:
  1. They rise between the ages of 1 to 2 turns but there have been cases of early risers.
  2. During a pass, flights will become erratic and unpredictable.
  3. Injury or fatigue may upset her cycle.
  4. Greens don't always show signs of "proddiness" when they are about to rise.
  5. You need to stay with your dragon and control her so she doesn't go "Between".
  6. Rooms are set aside for the riders during a mating flight.
  7. Mainly brown and blue dragons will catch the green dragons but there have been occasional bronze/green matings.
  8. If two greens rise simultaneously, the riders will instruct their dragons to fly in opposite directions.
  9. Greens are not territorial, nor do they fight over the male dragons because eggs are not the issue.
  10. Your dragon's emotions affect you and you will mimic your dragon's actions.
If you have any questions concerning this material or green dragons in general then please email the BoD.
