Perfect Circle, on the inside, begins to draw away from Angel Of the Morning.
Welcome to the Monopoly Race day! There were some expected winners and some real surprising upsets. There was a large crowd turnout as well, and the betting windows were busy all morning. Despite being such warm weather, the horses all came out of the races little more than tired and sweaty. (note: *distance* = amount won/placed by)

Meet #4 is being scheduled and will include additional stakes and allowances as well as maiden races. Following Meet 4, the TRIPLE CROWN SERIES WILL OFFICIALLY BEGIN!

The quest for the 2002 Triple Crown will soon begin-- be sure to have your 2-year-old TBs in training and ready to go!

2nd - CVS Vengeful (odds: 5-1)

CRASH TEST, outrun early, moved boldly along the inside to catch the leader approaching the final turn and battled to the wire, winning by a head bob. CVS VENGEFUL , broke well, moved to a clear eary lead, rallied well in the strech and finished a strong second.

Colt Two ST. JAMES MAIDEN

1st - CVS Balvaird (odds: 8-1) *two 1/4 lengths*
2nd - Intoxicated .GCh (odds: 4-1) *one length*
3rd - Mint Julep (odds:5-1)
CVS BALVAIRD , outrun to the stretch, finished full of run while racing wide to wear down INTOXICATED.GCh and won going away. INTOXICATED.GCh showed good early foot while racing well out from the rail, shook off MINT JULEP entering the stretch but wasn't able to withstand the winner. MINT JULEP, eased back along the inside soon after the start, moved last from the outside to catch INTOXICATED.GCH on the turn but weakened during the drive.

1st - GCh. Snow Day .ICh (odds: 2-1) *three lengths*
2nd - Misty Nights Ransom

GCH.SNOW DAY.ICH, reserved early, rallied along the inside leaving the far turn and led gamely to wear down MISTY NIGHTS RANSOM. The latter opened a clear lead while saving ground approaching the turn and held on well.

1st - Fh Time Stands Still (odds: 7-1) *two lengths*
2nd - CVS Phantom Mania (odds: 3-1)

FH TIME STANDS STILL, within easy striking distance while unhurried early , rallied outside the early leader entering the stretch and outfinished CVS PHANTOM MANIA. The latter raced alongside the winner most of the trip, responded in the drive but could not outfinish FH TIME STANDS STILL.

2nd - Run For It (odds: 7-1) * three lengths*
3rd - Ch. Mrs. Speed

MISS TAKE had speed from the outset, made the pace into the stretch while racing well out in the track and lasted in a long drive. A foul claim from the rider of RUN FOR IT, for alleged interference through the stretch was not allowed. RUN FOR IT, off slowly, was checked between horses racing into the turn, drifted very wide while entering the stretch and finished with good courage , just missing. Ch.MRS. SPEED rallied while racing wide approaching the stretch, moved to the inside of MISS TAKE to loom a threat a furlong out but tired in the final strides, dropping back.

Filly Four MARVIN GARDENS MAIDEN

1st - Perfect Circle (odds: 5-1) *six lengths*
2nd - Angel of the Morning (odds: 11-1)

PERFECT CIRCLE saved ground while making the pace to the stretch and drew away under brisk urging. ANGEL OF THE MORNING raced outside PERFECT CIRCLE while prompting the pace into the stretch but was no match for the winner.

WATER WORKS STAKES (gr II)

1st - Ch. Storm Cat (odds: 3-1)*eight lengths*
2nd - SS Dark Impact (odds: 4-1)

Ch.STORM CAT, never far back, remained wide most of the trip, drove to a clear lead in the upper stretch and was not threatened thereafter. SS DARK IMPACT , in good position and saving ground early moved to contention inside CH. STORM CAT at the far turn, but could not finish with the winner.

BOARDWALK ALLOWANCE

1st - Powell River (odds: 5-1) *four lengths*
2nd - Whispering Nights Ransom (odds: 6-1)

POWELL RIVER, raced wide early , moved quickly to the fore in the far turn and drew off rapidly under intermittent urging. WHISPERING NIGHTS RANSOM ,checked along the inside entering the backstretch, rallied while racing well out on the track leaving the far turn and finished with good energy.
